About
I could tell you about all my qualifications and how many years I have been working with animals but that's not my story, that's not what has driven me to be where I am today.
I grew up around a variety of animals, horses, dogs, cats and of course the obligatory childhood pet the hamster, but my driving force and passion came from the realisation that understanding animals, for me, was innate.
I worked my way through the ranks, gaining better insight and knowledge of what it takes to be a working animal. This gave me my second draw; if I can understand animals then I can help others understand them too.
I spent many years (27 I believe) as an instructor and lecturer. But in those latter years the field of understanding shifted; it was no longer about asking our animals to work but how we can facilitate a better approach to our partnerships and hence we start to see our animals as athletes.
This really made me question if I understood animals in the way I thought I did. And although I felt I had a great deal of empathy I fell short of being able to provide support at a high enough standard that could truly facilitate understanding between animal and owner.
So, this started my evolution; from groom to lecturer, to veterinary physiotherapist. One thing I am sure of is that the learning never ends. Every animal I meet provides me with a new understanding.
